Travel Diaries: Santa Monica

One of the first things we had planned for our vacation in SoCal was to hit up the Santa Monica Pier which we headed to by car. Driving in California is different from driving in the east coast in that you have to be really aggressive when switching lanes. Also, lane splitting (when motorcycles can legally zoom in between cars on the freeways) is the scariest thing ever when you are busy trying to pay attention the GPS and unfamiliar roads without getting into any accidents in a rental car.

We met up with my cousin D in Santa Monica, someone I hadn't seen since the O Family reunion in Sydney, Australia, four years ago. Her mother is Papa O's younger sister, and she is the smartest, coolest, and most friendly girl you could ever meet. She took us around downtown where we got to shop, eat and chat for a bit. It was a perfect first day out and about in the Golden State!
